Pisum sativum
An heirloom from the 1800s with tasty bright green peas and a high sugar content. Pods grow to about 3-4 1/2 inches, containing six to nine peas each. This early pea does best in the cooler weather of spring and fall and can be eaten fresh and raw or used immediately for cooking. These peas also freeze well.
